Costco My Mochi Ice Cream Review
The Mochi Ice Cream at Costco looked so cute and fun. I really thought that they would taste great too. Unfortunately they look better than they tasted.
Since I had never tried Mochi before, I honestly had no idea what to expect. I have definitely heard of mochi, and the box was so cute.

What is Mochi Ice Cream?
Mochi is premium ice cream wrapped in a sweet rice dough. It is originally a Japanese dessert, but has become more popular in other parts of the world. It comes in many different colors and flavors.
Costco sells an 18 pack of My Mochi Ice Cream for $10.99. Flavors included are ripe strawberry, green tea, and sweet mango.
Nutrition
Each Mochi Ice Cream contains 100 calories. Here is the full nutritional information from the side of the box.
Inside the box
The pack of Mochi Ice Cream at Costco includes 3 trays of frozen Mochi. There are 6 sweet mango flavors, 6 green tea flavors, and 6 sweet strawberry flavors.
Instructions
The instructions included on the box say that you should let the Mochi sit out a minute or two before eating.
I let my Mochi Ice Cream sit out on a plate for a couple minutes before trying it.
Taste
I was very surprised that I didn’t actually like the taste of this Mochi Ice Cream. The Ice Cream in the center was very good (except the green tea flavor).
It was just the texture and taste of the rice dough on the outside that I didn’t care for. The rice dough on the outside was just way too doughy and thick. I honestly had a hard time even eating it because it was not very good at all. Even my kids, who will eat anything that has ice cream, wouldn’t even eat them.
If I had to rate them from my favorite to least favorite, I would say that the best tasting one was the strawberry, followed by the mango, and my least favorite was definitely the green tea.
What Others Thought
I really hate giving a bad review about a product, but I also want to be honest. I was also interested to see what other people thought of the ice cream. The reviews were actually really mixed. It seemed like people were divided over loving these and not liking these at all.
Many people state that these are so good, and that they couldn’t eat just one. Others said that they couldn’t stand the taste and had to throw them out.
Final Thoughts
Unfortunately, I didn’t like these at all. I will probably end up throwing them away (which I never do) because I just don’t like the texture and taste of the dough. While I won’t be purchasing these again, I am not giving up on Mochi all together.
I do think that they could have been good if they had a thinner and better tasting dough. Since everyone’s opinion about the Mochi Ice Cream seems to be very divided, it is possible that you may like these.
I guess it’s one of those products that you have to try for yourself to see if you like or you don’t.
