Frozen Real Good Enchiladas From Costco Review

While I thought that these Real Good Enchiladas would be a great low carb option, they just didn’t taste good at all.

Details:

  • Costco item number 1512893.
  • $13.49 USD
  • Box includes 6 frozen enchiladas.
  • Grain Free
  • Gluten Free

I found these frozen enchiladas in the freezer section next to the other frozen foods.

Inside the Box

The box has three cardboard trays that each contain two frozen enchiladas. So there are a total of six enchiladas.

Each cardboard tray is wrapped in plastic and the enchiladas can be cooked in this tray.

Cooking Instructions

Microwave: Remove enchilada tray from box. Leave enchiladas wrapped in film and poke holes to ventilate. Place the tray in the microwave and heat on HIGH for 4-5 minutes. Let sit for 1 minute and then enjoy.

Conventional Oven: Remove enchilada tray from box and REMOVE FILM. Leave enchiladas in the tray. Preheat the oven to 400 F. Place the tray in the oven. Bake for 28 to 32 minutes. Let sit for 1 minute. Enjoy.

Pro Tip: After 20 minutes in the oven, pull out the tray and cut a slit in the middle of the enchiladas. Place the bake in oven for 10 to 14 minutes.

About Real Good Foods

The company that makes these enchiladas is Realgood Foods Company. They specialize in making frozen foods that are high in protein, low in carbs, and that are made from real ingredients. These Chicken enchiladas are not your normal enchiladas. They are made to be high in protein and low in carbs.

They are also made using real food ingredients, and instead of using a processed flour tortilla, they are wrapped in a chicken and cheese tortilla. If you are trying to cut back on carbs, or just trying to eat grain or gluten free then these might be perfect for you.

Cooking The Enchiladas

I followed the microwave cooking instructions and first poked a few holes in the plastic film to ventilate. I then placed the enchiladas in the microwave for 5 minutes and cooked on high. After 5 minutes they were fully cooked, I then let them cool off for a couple minutes.

Taste

I really love chicken enchiladas, and these ones looked delicious on the package. I honestly thought that I was really going to like these. After tasting them, I have to say that I don’t love them. While they are not bad tasting, I just don’t really care for the texture or taste of the meat inside of the enchiladas.

I expected the chicken inside the enchilada to be shredded, but it was more of a cut up and food processed type of chicken.

I also didn’t really like the tortilla that was made from chicken and cheese. The green sauce didn’t really taste that good, and there was quite a bit of extra water in the bottom of the tray after cooking the enchiladas. Overall, I finished eating the enchiladas, but probably wouldn’t buy them again.

What Others Thought

When I don’t personally love a product, I like to be fair and share what others think, because we all have different tastes. So I did some research and read over a ton of reviews, and it seems like these enchiladas have mixed opinions.

Overall, the product seemed to be rated around 3.5 out of 5 stars on different sites. With some people loving these, and others not liking them at all. Many of the reviewers felt the same as I did and didn’t love the excess liquid and the consistency of the chicken.

Some reviews did say how much they loved these enchiladas. Many said that they were delicious, and that they buy them all the time.

Final Thoughts

I am glad that I finally tried the Real Good Enchiladas from Costco, but won’t be buying them again. While they are a great option if you are trying to eat low carb, but still want to enjoy enchiladas, they just don’t taste that great.

I know how hard it can be to stick to a low carb eating plan and just want to feel that you are eating normal food again.

I was just trying these because they looked delicious on the box. If you are trying them because they are low carb, and you are looking for a replacement for enchiladas, you might like them. The one thing that I do love about these is that they are low carb, high in protein, and are made from real foods.

I don’t personally like the taste of these, but from reading some of the reviews, some people really enjoy these enchiladas.
