Costco Chocolate Muffins Review
If you have never had the Costco Chocolate Muffins then you are in for a treat! Just like everything else at Costco, these muffins are not your normal size. They are so good that I have purchased them more times than I can count.
Luckily for us, my local warehouse almost always has these muffins in stock. This is one of the items that is made in their bakery, so you can purchase them anytime of the year.
While I have purchased these many times in the past, I was happy to buy them again to take photos for this review. Here is everything that you need to know.

The chocolate muffins seem like they are always in stock. I know so many people that love these muffins, that I am surprised that they are not sold out more often.
This is one of the items that are made in the Costco bakery and they do a great job of keeping them in stock.
What’s Included
The muffins are $8.99 USD for two packs. Each pack comes with 6 large muffins. You can actually mix and match flavors. You can get to packs of chocolate muffins, or you can get any of the other flavor options.
The other flavors that they normally have in stock are sesame seed, blueberry, and coffee cake.
This review is about the chocolate muffins (they definitely deserve their own post), but honestly all the muffins at Costco are good. My second favorite would be the blueberry muffins.
Just make sure that you remember to grab 2 packs so that you don’t have to come back once you get up to the register.
Taste
These muffins are so chocolaty and good. They are never dry and just taste amazing! They remind me almost of a chocolate cake taste more than a muffin. These muffins are more of a dessert.
They have the perfect chocolate cake taste, but what makes them even better is that they have chunks of chocolate baked in them. So when you are eating the muffin you get to bite into chocolate chunks.
They also have the perfect amount of chocolate chunks, not too many and not too little. If you are a chocolate lover, then you are probably going to love these.
Nutrition
While they might be good, they are definitely not good for you. Costco doesn’t have the nutritional facts listed on the package. I did some research and this is what I was able to find.
A serving size of one double chocolate muffin contains about 690 calories, 38 grams of total fat, 125 mg of cholesterol, 590 mg of sodium, 79 g of carbohydrates, 48 g of sugars, and 10 g of protein.
These chocolate muffins definitely taste delicious, but they are also not very healthy. Since you might not want to be eating too many of these, I would suggest freezing them.
I have put them in quart sized zip-lock bags and then froze and defrosted them, and they tasted just as good. Also, since these muffins are just so big, I will sometimes cut them in half or in fourths so that it’s not so many calories in one serving.
Final Thoughts
The double chocolate muffins are simply delicious! They definitely taste more like a desert than a muffin.
While I love these, I don’t buy them as often as I would like simply because I don’t need to eat that much chocolate or calories.
If you love chocolate, and you have never tried these double chocolate muffins then I would suggest that you try them. Just be warned, that you are probably going to want to eat more than you should, because they are just too good.
